Forty years after the introduction
of the historic Bantam 100,
the new Bantam revived in modern times.
By adopting a core solid body in which
the level wind protector, side plate and
main frame are integrally molded,
rattling during palming is banished.
We have achieved high rigidity that
is distinct from conventional low-probait.
The dial case that supports the spool
is forged from aluminum,
and its unique structure that is exposed
from the body side makes it compact
and transmits vibration directly
to the palmed palm. It also contributes
to higher sensitivity. Shimano, which
is at the forefront of metal processing
technology, makes full use of the latest technology
to create a modern bantam where the advantages
of highly rigid aluminum materials are reviewed.
The inherited soul of an engineer makes a new step
in the history of bait reels.

When the concept of such a bantam product was applied to
a reel, the performance that was visible was "high rigidity"
that far exceeds conventional performance.
With a shape that fits many people's hands with a strong reel
that does not produce noise even with strong fishing...
The material that modern bantams chose to realize that
proposition was the same "aluminum" as that famous
machine. |

With a low profile body that is easy to palm, it is as rigid as an aluminum
machine-cut circular reel.
At the very least, the new Bantam is such a reel. However, there are walls
that must be overcome in order for it to take shape.
One of the technologies to overcome that barrier is "core solid body".

The low-profile bait casting reel is easier to palm than the circular reel
represented by the Calcutta series,
but has a disadvantage in terms of rigidity. In contrast to the Calcutta series where the main frame is machined
from forged aluminum material, the general low profile body is constructed
by combining several parts into
the main frame made by casting. However, this large number of parts is
a factor that causes a slight bending
sensation even though the strength is practically sufficient. Therefore, Bantam's development team devised
a body configuration with a small number of points using the same aluminum
material as Calcutta.
The core of the concept is the core solid body in the above picture, which
is a single-piece main frame,
level wind protector, and side plate. Calcutter can be molded by cutting aluminum because
it has a simple shape of a circle. There were various restrictions on the
processing of the main frame
of a low profile reel with a complicated shape into an integral shape.
The usual low profile reel has a level wind protector as a separate body
because it is impossible
to remove it from the mold as a unit in the casting. However, Bantam MGL overcomes this problem
by cutting after casting. Although the manufacturing process has increased
considerably,
we have succeeded in greatly increasing the frame rigidity.
Furthermore, by eliminating the side plate on one side and replacing it
with a dial case made
of machined aluminum, the number of parts is reduced by another point. This structure
is similar to the Calcutta series, and has contributed significantly to
higher rigidity and compactness.
Moreover, since the dial case supporting the spool is directly touched
by the hand,
the winding sensitivity is improved at the same time. |

NEW SVS INFINITY 
The NEW SVS (Infinity) is a centrifugal brake, but realizes a brake adjustment

With the four brake shoes on, basically no internal adjustments are necessary.
(If you need more detailed settings, you can make fine adjustments
with the internal brake shoes. The four brake shoes are on when shipped.) |
